Update 28th Nov
EI - Industry Liasion
http://www.outbreak.gov.au/ provides the latest information from each state and links to the Equine Influenza grants (a number of SA horse clubs have been recent receipiants of the $5000 grant - so have a go applying) - also an online survey.
http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agriculture/livestock/horse/influenza is by far the most comprehensive website, with videos showing virus spread using their GIS mapping, pictures & fact sheets showing how to disinfect, latest restrictions and updates. It shows that the virus is under control and starting to burn itself out.
Community Information Sessions - Gawler Community Sports Centre 28 November 7.30pm - TOMORROW NIGHT/Victor Harbor RSL Club 4 December 7.30pm/Whyalla Westlands Motel 12 December 7.30pm
PIRSA Website (www.pir.sa.gov.au) Updates - a lot of forms are now easier to do online: Please put in a permit to run a horse event,(according to your organisations board decisions) and be prepared for a bit of "to and fro" but permits are being issued. Most people would remember that risk assessments had to be done some time ago for public liability at venues, a similar thing applies here. Assess risks and eliminate or reduce the identified risks. Venues that are well set up for public liability e.g. seperation of horses and people, seperation of traffic, defined areas for each activity - will be ahead of the rest. Talk to others, as once a contingency plan is developed for a venue, then it should be able to be used for a range of clubs that may hire it.
