EI and Pony Club SA

As we progress further into this emergency situation, especially in a non-affected state, it is easy to forget how easily the EI is spread. Horse owners are encouraged to protect their own horses. Equine Flu is a notifiable disease and failure to report can attract a fine. If you think your horse may be sick, please ring the PIRSA hotline 1800 675 888  PIRSA vets will then discuss the case with you, and if required, send a vet out at PIRSA's expense.

During this period of horse activity postponement, cancellation or delay, all horse owners are encouraged to support their local horse clubs, attend social days, keep a "neighbourhood watch" on each other and support committee members who may have had to make very difficult decisions in the interests of the broader horse community. As long as horse flu remains in other states, our state is at risk.
