1. Move to a provisional disease free Australia. Visit the Australian Horse Industry Council website www.horsecouncil.org.au for a range of images and recent updates. Gatherings of horses will still need to register as events with PIRSA. Info about this, horse movements etc on www.pir.sa.gov.au  National updates available on www.outbreak.gov.au

1. FREE WORKSHOPS - BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING FOR BUSINESSES/CLUBS

Do you provide products or services for the horse industry? How will you survive another stock standstill, prolonged equine flu disruption or other emergency or business disruption? While Equine Influenza is present in Australia, another stock standstill can be called at any time - is your business (including organisations & self-employed) ready& able to cope? Who can attend? Horse training & breaking, farrier, fodder, agistment, saddlery & repairs, horse clubs, shows and events, transporting, float repairs, hired horse venues, coaching, riding schools etc.

Over 50 businesses, clubs and self-employed have found the workshops most informative, interactive and beneficial so far.

Victor Harbor: Tuesday 19th Feb 2008  Venue Newland Uniting Church Hall - Victoria Street  Bookings are essential. There is a requirement to have a minimum of six "starters" to enable the workshop to proceed otherwise it will be cancelled.

2. Register your horse property with PIRSA. An easier form is available on the Horse SA homepage. Currently the Minister is reviewing the need to register horse properties as mandatory. If this is introduced a fee may apply. So… get in early and get in for free!

3. Coming soon: Horse SA "industry leaders" meeting (club committee member representatives) to discuss with Dr Rob Rahaley, CVO about "where to from here"

General News

1. Impounding Act Responses required by horse owners for the current review of the "Impounding Act" please see the range of questions being asked e.g. should there be a right for destruction of a loose animal? Info on Horse SA homepage.

2. Anzac Day: The Office for Recreation & Sport has sent a general letter to sporting organisations advising about competitions held on Anzac Day (or the request under an Act not to hold events between 5 am - 12 noon) If you have an event on this day, perhaps contact your lead horse organisation or the Office for Recreation & Sport Directly as there is a definition of events supplied.
